We are pleased to announce that the NOMAD hand-held intraoral X-ray device will be available to dental offices in Iowa and no longer only an alternative to portable X-ray units on mobile stands. This comes after Iowa State Public Health Department’s Bureau of Radiological Health determined that changes in the regulations to allow the use of handheld X-rays systems such as NOMAD for general use in dentistry, was warranted and these new regulations became affective July 12th of this year.
NOMAD has a strong commitment to X-ray safety and has been active in assisting in providing systems for many state regulators to test. As more states acknowledge the safety of these handheld devices, NOMAD is able to continue to provide dentists with the quality, ease-of-use, convenience, and flexibility of X-ray image capture that is important to the modern dental office.
It’s not only dentists that can appreciate the attributes of the NOMAD Pro 2™, hygienists and assistants alike are enjoying the product. Ana Fernandez, RDH, hygienist for Dr. Christopher Hoffpauir of Alvin, Texas, has been practicing hygiene for 6 years. During her career, she has used multiple wall-mounted X-ray devices. However, for the past year, she’s been using NOMAD. When Ana was first introduced to NOMAD, her first concern was that she would be protected from radiation during use. With information on the system’s safety features and stats provided by the NOMAD rep, she was comfortable in using the system. Ana further states that her patients see the NOMAD as “very cool,” and “they are excited that dentistry has come this far.”
Ana goes on to say, “I love the NOMAD! It makes it so easy to take X-rays. I can easily position it, and don’t have to worry about a drifting X-ray head,” referring to the movement that can happen with wall-mounted units. On another note, she shares, “One thing I don’t miss… with the old type of X-ray, I’d be concentrating on taking the X-ray, getting just the right angle, then I’d move and hit my head on one of the arms—I’m sure every hygienist can relate to that! Whether you practice in Iowa, or another state where hand-held intraoral X-ray devices are approved, look to NOMAD for the product experience and reputation that resonates with the dental community.
