Job Description – Assembly Tech

Provides technical skills in all areas of the manufacturing department to support production of product.

  • Provides technical skills for the manufacturing facility in the area of assembly, packaging, shipping, and receiving.
  • Support manufacturing operation to achieve production goals, support machine/fixture design, process development, and validation initiatives.
  • Some understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
  • Responsible for maintaining good documentation principles.
  • Report to Manufacturing Supervisor.  Work closely with engineers, manufacturing supervisor, and assembly technicians to identify and resolve problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Interacts closely with other manufacturing team members.
  • Demonstrates initiative by routinely taking on challenging tasks that improve processes.
  • Proposes process changes to engineering influencing the safety, quality, cost improvement, and speed, and works with appropriate individuals to facilitate these changes.
  • Help performs preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • Support management to achieve manufacturing/organizational goals.
  • All other tasks as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

  • One-year related experience in manufacturing, preferably medical manufacturing.
  • Must be able to read and understand work instructions and operational procedures.
  • Must be able to write legibly.
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing procedures and importance of medical device manufacturing is a plus.
  • Understanding and acceptance of quality standards and procedures is important.
  • Must be able to work with and assemble small parts.
  • Be able to sit or work at one station for extended periods of time.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Soldering experience is desired.

JOB DESCRIPTION - Engineer

Position Title: Manufacturing/Electrical Engineer
Department: Operations/Engineering
Reports To: Operations Manager

General Function:
Provide the first line of defense in sustaining the engineering quality in manufacturing including returned goods. Design innovative electronic instrumentation to test components, assess and investigate issues with electronics, and provide general oversight relating to product and manufacturing electronics. Qualify, verify, and validate components as well as processes to assure quality in manufacturing. Plans, develops, and conducts tests on, and maintain electronic components, products, and systems, applying knowledge and principles of electronic theory, testing methodology and procedures, and electronic engineering. Act as a liaison between manufacturing and R&D as well as with electronic manufacturers.

Requirements:
Applicants must have completed a four-year degree in engineering or physics or have equivalent work experience in the manufacturing industry performing relative duties and responsibilities, good problem-solving and project management skills.  Experience with electrical circuit trouble shooting using schematics, computer programming, basic familiarity with data base management and strong mathematical, writing and verbal communications skills preferred.  

Responsibilities:

  • Help specify system-level measurement objectives by completing component-level control of electronics and embedded software. Understand measurement goals and balance those goals against realistic technical possibilities.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, repair, and resolve issues on returned goods and implement resolution to reduce waste.
  • This position focuses on manufacturing medical device electronics; in addition, applicants must have a thorough understanding of mechanical design elements and must be able to perform failure analysis.
  • Define and implement experimental procedures to quantify performance during prototype and production phases. This includes analyzing experimental data to give meaningful quantitative conclusions.
  • Define and document procedures for manufacturing, testing, and calibrating instrument designs.
  • Applicants must have an enthusiastic interest in maintaining designed components and systems. Applicants must be self-motivated and capable of managing their own activities. Applicants must be able to work effectively within a design team that includes other engineers as well as marketing and production personnel.
  • Electrical test development and support along with calibration process support. 
  • Correlate with R&D on process requirements, product specifications, enhancements, documentation, and validation.  Address component obsolescence (electrical and mechanical), quality, and product performance.
  • Develop calibration standards and maintenance of those standards as applicable to product requirements.  Report to and consult with design engineering on sustaining activities in order to maintain pertinent product feedback in support of ongoing designs. 
  • All other tasks assigned by supervisor.
